Praise Be! The Ladies of “First Wives Club” Are Reuniting for a New Movie
It’s been 24 years since Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, and Bette Midler two-stepped-and-slid into our lives in First Wives Club, the greatest film of all time.
Well—finally, thankfully—our gals are back in Family Jewels, a new big-screen comedy slated to begin production this year.
According to Deadline: “In Family Jewels, Hawn, Midler and Keaton’s characters are forced to spend the Christmas holidays together, along with their kids and grandkids, after the man they were all once married to drops dead in a New York City department store.”
Sign. Me. Up. But let’s just hope this actually happens as I’m still smarting from the rumored sequel to the 1996 blockbuster that never materialized due to salary disputes and the studio’s general unwillingness.
Not to mention Divanation, a Netflix comedy announced back in 2015 that would have featured Hawn, Keaton, and Midler as a former girl group getting the band back together after 30 years of bitter estrangement.
Still waiting for it. But until Family Jewels (hopefully) shines into theaters, First Wives Club is currently streaming on Netflix.
