Kim Petras might be coming for the title of pop music’s hottest Halloween queen, but we all know the original mistress of the dark is… well, that’s Elvira. But the original scream queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race is Season 4 winner Sharon Needles.
The “Battle Axe” singer welcomes the season of the witch with SPOOPY, a new EP full of covers of classic Halloween party songs like “Purple People Eater,” “Highway to Hell,” and first single “Monster Mash.”
“This is my fourth studio record. As with my other three records… I’m kind of a hokey-jokey, campy idiot in black lipstick, but when it comes to my music, I take it very seriously,” Needles told Entertainment Weekly.
“[But] this is only six tracks. It’s an EP, and they’re all covers. This is more of a Halloween gift to the fans who’ve stood by me for the last seven years—all 13 of them!”
In the new video for “Monster Mash,” Sharon hosts her own psycho beach party complete with goth partygoers, classic monster masks, and the scariest guest of all: Sharon’s ex, Alaska! Sharon really goes all out for Halloween, huh?
SPOOPY is available now—and to get in a monster-y mood, check out the music video below.
